Kutch Earthquake Relief
On Friday, January 26, a powerful earthquake devastated Bhuj and much of the Kutch region in Northwestern India. Anybody wishing help the children or animals in Kutch, please contact Bonny Shah at email@example.com. Rati and Bonny are working now with the Indian community in the US to coordinate efforts, Rati is planning to fly to India personally in the next few weeks. See below for information about Rahul Sehgal, who will be bringing water, aid and whatever possible from Ahmedabad to the animals in Bhuj.
|Now's the time for giving!
Our friends at Mini-Pigs sanctuary could use a hand. The unusually cold and snowy winter has caused the feed bill for the miniature pigs to go up dramatically. Making it necessary to purchase much more hay and straw than in a more normal winter. This has put an unforeseen hardship on the sanctuary budget. Please send them a little something so they can stop worrying about money and get back to the hard work of pampering over 150 pigs! - Mini-Pigs, 11323 Scotts Mill Road, Culpeper, Virginia 22701. - www.minipigs.org
"Ahimsa" is a Hindi word meaning 'kindness to all life'.
It is the mission statement of Ahimsa of Texas to promote kindness to all life, with the primary focus of eliminating the euthanasia of healthy companion animals in our community shelters and animal pounds. We find ways to promote spay/neuter and to educate the public about the millions of healthy animals being killed in this country every minute, every day, for no reason other than there are more animals than there are homes for them.
There are many ways you can help, yet helping can be as simple as being a responsible person and neutering your pet. If you have a friend, a neighbor, a relative, or even someone you don't know, who has a pet that keeps having litters, please help them find a way to neuter their pet. Two intact animals can produce between 85,000 & 150,000 offspring in just 7 years, with only two surviving babies per litter!
If you are thinking about adopting a pet, please ADOPT for LIFE! Owner relinquished animals are the largest single source of incoming animals to shelters and the biggest cause of stray animals. Animals left to fend for themselves on some country road, in the park, or near the lake, have less than half-a-chance of surviving 4 months. They're shot at, poisoned, tortured, run over by cars, eaten by predators, killed slowly by internal parasites, or just starve slowly to death. They pay with their lives because they aren't wanted any more!
You can become as involved as you like, or not at all.
But someone must help us if we are to stop the senseless and needless slaughter of healthy kittens, puppies, cats, dogs, former Easter bunnies and other homeless pets.
We knew you were one of the good guys.
Call your local shelter today. Ask how you can help. You will make some of the most wonderful friends in the world, two-legged AND four-legged.

My name is Rahul Sehgal. I live in the same city "AHMEDABAD" which has
experienced the massive earthquake.I run a non profit animal organisation
called Animal Help foundation and are in the process of building a
veterinary hospital and a shelter for animals. There have been huge
unrepairable cracks in my highrise apartments which is virtually
unliveable but all my near and dear ones are alive. I am going to the
worst affected town called "BHUJ" with food and water and medication for
the animals as all the relief has gone towards humans which is
understandable.I have been able to gather 20 volunteers for the operation.
Kindly give inputs on how to handle the situation there as most of the
affected animals are expected to be cattle, camels and goats. We plan to
leave as soon as we are able to chalk out a plan, in a truck and assess
the situation as to how are we going to build a temporary shelter and
arrange for the fodder etc.. Also kindly let me know if your organisation
would like to get involved and in what way?
